In recent years, art has been mainly handled and valued by the international auction houses. Thus it has been more difficult for art owners to sell works directly. While auction houses offer advantage payments and sometimes even guarantees, this is usually only for high-quality works of art worth millions.

One of the few dealers with a similarly wide range to that of an auction house but who offers direct purchase to owners of works of art is Weng Fine Art AG based in the vicinity of Düsseldorf.

ARTINVESTOR spoke with Rüdiger K. Weng, chairman of the internationally active Weng Fine Art AG about the benefits of a direct sale to a trading house compared to mediation by an auction house.
